At the heart of the Haute Parfumerie Maison, the Alexandrabach gallery is an intimate exhibition space dedicated to the olfactory works of Alexandra Bachand, visual artist, perfumer, and founder.
Conceived as a meeting place between contemporary art and the art of perfumery, the Alexandrabach gallery offers the opportunity to discover a selection of the artist’s recent and earlier paintings, as well as her sculptural installations, within an intimate and privileged setting. Here, the works are not simply seen: they are breathed, experienced, and discovered through the senses.

A fascinating place to enter an artistic universe where colors, forms, materials, and fragrances converse with one another to create a multi-sensory narrative. The gallery thus offers privileged access to a rare artistic practice, in which fragrance becomes matter, memory, and language.

Originally from Quebec’s Eastern Townships, Alexandra is a Canadian artist. She studied graphic design and multimedia at ICARI in Montreal and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from Bishop’s University in Lennoxville. Since 2015, following a degree in perfumery in Europe, she has developed a singular artistic approach rooted in the synesthesia between color and scent, merging visual and olfactory arts. She composes and entirely creates all of the fragrances emanating from her three-dimensional visual works.
Bachand’s practice is grounded in a process of complete authorship, through which she claims full autonomy in the conception and realization of the works she presents to the public. Inspired by the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk — the total work of art — her practice is founded on the idea that every component of a work, whether visual, material, spatial, or olfactory, emerges from the same creative gesture. Fragrance is therefore not added to the work: it is a material in its own right, conceived and composed as an extension of the artistic intention and, above all, through the artist’s own hands.
“My work takes shape through a narrative that unfolds across multiple materials. I paint, assemble, sculpt matter, and compose the fragrance that becomes interwoven with the physical material. Scent occupies an essential place: invisible, yet deeply embodied, it acts as a buried memory, a presence inscribed within the work without seeking simply to scent it.Olfactory matter opens new perspectives and sometimes reveals hidden layers of intention. It enters into dialogue with the work while remaining an integral part of it. What invariably moves me about this way of engaging with the public is the fact that the olfactory element extends into the space surrounding the work, also inhabiting what might otherwise be perceived as empty space, transforming our perception of the work itself.”— Alexandra
Her research explores, among other themes, history and heritage, botany, the impermanence of time, and the fragility of life. Her work has been presented in museum institutions in Canada and France, before audiences totaling several hundred thousand visitors.
Since 2024, she has been certified in exhibition curation by the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York.
