Artistic fragrance. Sfumato is the name given to the painting technique used by Leonardo da Vinci when he painted the portrait of the Mona Lisa. In Italian, it means “smoky” or “softened by smoke.” The perfumer travelled to Tuscany to create this composition with its singular trail, adorned with the unparalleled elegance of Iris pallida, the “blue gold” of fine perfumery—a rare material that she extracted herself in the land of Siena. Ambered and deep, the fragrance symbolically captures a smoky note suspended in the artist’s studio as the portrait of Lisa Gherardini was painted by the great master in the 16th century.

FINE ARTS COLLECTION: this fragrance is inspired by the olfactory installation SFUMATO INVISIBILE. (2019), created by artist and perfumer Alexandra Bachand and presented at two cultural institutions: Orford Musique and the Canadian Museum of Architecture. The Sfumato fragrance was also presented by the International Conservatory of Perfumes of Versailles (Osmothèque) during Esxence 2023 in Milan, Italy.
